Humidity is a winter problem here, not a summer one
A closed up house running its furnace all winter dries the air out fast, and dry air is what causes the static shocks, cracked woodwork and dry skin most people blame on the season rather than the humidity level. By the time anyone thinks to measure it, the house has usually been too dry for weeks. A whole home humidifier fixes that at the source, tied into the duct system, instead of one portable unit trying to cover rooms it was never sized for.
Summer moisture is a different problem and a different fix. Basements and crawl spaces here can run damp for months at a time, and that is where a dehumidifier does the job a humidifier cannot. We install and service both, because a house usually needs one in winter and the other in summer, not the same appliance year round.

Filtration the blower can actually push
A filter rated higher than the system was built for does not clean the air better, it just makes the blower work harder to pull air through it, and a blower fighting too much restriction can ice a coil or shorten its own life. Air filtration installation starts with what the equipment can actually move, and the filter gets matched to that, not to whatever rating sounds the most protective on the shelf.
A standalone air purifier is a separate decision from filtration, and the two solve different problems. Air purifier installation gets recommended when there is a specific concern filtration alone will not reach, not as an automatic add on to every job.

What a whole home humidifier does to a 1980s duct run
Ductwork from the 1980s was rarely sized or sealed with a humidifier in mind, so humidifier installation on an older system means checking for a proper bypass, a working damper and a real water supply and drain line before the unit ever gets mounted. Skip that check and the humidifier either underperforms or overshoots and puts moisture where it should not be.
