Ventilation and ductwork

Static pressure is the number nobody measures, until the system stops working

We evaluate, clean, repair and optimize ductwork and ventilation systems so air actually moves the way your furnace or air conditioner needs it to, including custom sheet metal for runs that were never going to fit.

Chapter 01

Static pressure is the number nobody measures

Static pressure is the resistance a duct system puts up against the air trying to move through it, and most homeowners never hear the term because most service calls never measure it. A system fighting too much resistance works harder for less output, and that shortens equipment life while it drives up the bill, quietly, for years before anyone notices.

The tell is usually a room that never gets comfortable, a register that whistles, or a furnace or air conditioner that short cycles more than it should. Those are duct symptoms wearing an equipment disguise, and measuring static pressure is how we tell the difference before recommending a fix.

Duct sealing before duct replacing

Leaky ductwork loses conditioned air into an attic or crawl space before it ever reaches the room it was meant for, and that loss shows up as a house that costs more to heat or cool than its equipment should require. Air duct repair usually starts with sealing the joints and seams that are actually leaking, which is a faster and cheaper fix than most people expect.

Sealing is not always enough on its own. When a section of duct has genuinely failed, crushed, disconnected or rotted through, air duct installation replaces that section specifically, rather than defaulting to tearing out ductwork that is otherwise doing its job.

Chapter 03

Custom sheet metal when the run does not fit the way the house was framed

Additions, finished basements and older framing all produce joist bays and soffits that a standard duct size was never going to fit through cleanly. Forcing a stock size into a space like that just adds another restriction to the system, which is the same static pressure problem in a new location. Custom ductwork gets fabricated to the actual space, not the other way around.

Correctly sized, sealed and properly fitted ductwork is what lets a furnace or air conditioner actually deliver what its rating promises. A well chosen system on badly matched ductwork will still underperform, which is why we treat the duct system as part of the job, not an afterthought to it.
